Sinclair-Strong Consultants Ltd is a small to medium well-regarded independent psychology service based in Kent. We work with individuals and organisations in Kent and the South East in Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Adult Mental Health, and trauma/personal injury sectors. We are currently looking to expand the team further with the following appointments, some of which will be for our newly commissioned out of hours support service:

SPECIALIST AUTISM OUT OF HOURS PRACTITIONER (Ref SSC/09)

Fixed Term 1st Sept - 1st June (with possibility of extension)
We are looking to appoint a practitioner to provide out of hours support to a specialist autism 'wrap-around' Out of Hours (OOH) service pilot. Where required, support young people, their families and other professionals within a specialist advice, support and consultancy role, helping young people 16-25 with complex neurodevelopmental presentations, to remain where possible, in their familiar home environments. To help to avoid inpatient stays or involvements in Criminal Justice System, where this can be avoided through specialist support.

Salary AfC Band 6 (within KCC KR9-10) £31,365 - £37,890 depending on experience


Essential requirements of the role:
Up to date enhanced DBS Certificate
Experience of working with autistic young people with complex needs
Significant post qualification experience in Social Services, health related agencies or related private or voluntary organisation
Working in a multi-agency environment/partnership including mental health
Experience of undertaking Assessments
Evidence of knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practices and Mental Capacity Act
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day in accordance with the requirements of the job

REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGISTS & ASSISTANT PSYCHOLOGISTS REQUIRED

REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGISTS (Ref SSC/01)
We are looking to appoint at least 2 Registered Psychologists (Clinical/Forensic/Counselling) to our team. The successful applicants, depending on experience and preference, will have the opportunity to work with adults with Intellectual Disability in various settings from Low Secure to community settings; with adults who have Autistic Spectrum Condition, predominantly in the community; and with adults in an Outpatient clinic setting with mental health difficulties.

Salary: £38,890 - £62,001 depending on experience

ASSISTANT PSYCHOLOGIST (Ref SSC/02)

We have a dynamic and exciting opportunity for an experienced assistant psychologist to join our small and expanding adult autism assessment service in West Malling, Kent.
Under the supervision of experienced psychologists, we are seeking a positive, hardworking, organised, and reliable assistant psychologist, who is capable of preparing excellent clinical reports and carrying out direct clinical work. There will also be opportunities to strengthen your audit and service evaluation skills, and you will be provided with regular supervision and CPD opportunities. You will have the opportunity to work flexibly from home and in a clinic setting.

Salary: £21,892 - £24,157 depending on experience

Essential requirements of the role:
Up to date Enhanced DBS Certificate
Previous paid experience as an assistant psychologist
Psychology degree at 2:1 or 1st class level
Experience of team working

The successful applicant will work mainly with Adults with Autism and/or intellectual disability based in Canterbury, but may also be required to travel to other services in Kent. This will be a part time, fixed term contract requiring an immediate start.

Salary: £21,892 - £24,157 pro rata depending on experience

Essential requirements for each job role:

Up to date Enhanced DBS certificate.
Experience of working with people with Autistic Spectrum Condition, Intellectual Disability or Mental Health difficulties.
HCPC registration for Registered Psychologists
Full driving license and use of own car.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS (Ref SSC/04)
Full Time Positions (37.5 hours a week)

The Kent and Medway Complex ASC Service (KAMCAS) is a newly commissioned specialist integrated Health and Social Care service, which seeks to reduce in-patient admissions and out of area treatment through the provision of community support for adults with complex Autism across Kent and Medway.

We are looking for 2 enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to join our rapidly developing multi- disciplinary team offering therapeutic interventions to people with complex Autism, at least one with several years post- registration experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop community experience and skills in Autism and Mental Health.
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist, preferably with 5 years post registration experience.

Salary: £24,907 - £37,890


TECHNICAL INSTRUCTORS (Ref SSC/05)
Full Time Positions (37.5 hours a week)

We have the opportunity to appoint 2 Technical Instructors to our rapidly growing team. Successful applicants will work with a Registered Occupational Therapist to support and assist in a range of adult patient care activities. The person should have previous experience in OT, or working with individuals experiencing Intellectual Disability, Autism, or mental health conditions.

Salary: £18,005 – £19,337 or higher for the right candidate with qualifications and experience.

Destination of Assistant Psychologists:

At Sinclair-Strong Consultants Ltd, we are dedicated to assisting the next generation of Psychologists and support our Assistant Psychologists both financially and with time off for training.

Below is a list of some of the support we have given and where our Assistant Psychologists have moved on to following their time with us:

  • Clinical Psychology training at several universities, including Bath, Salomons and Oxford universities
  • Completed a Masters Degree whilst at SSC and now completing a PhD in Developmental Psychology at the University of Kent
  • Forensic Psychologist training with the BPS and promoted within SSC
  • Currently completing a Doctorate in Forensic Psychology at Nottingham University whilst working at SSC
  • Studying for a Masters in Mental Health Nursing at the University of Essex
  • Support with IAPT training and subsequently obtained an IAPT position
  • Further developing Assistant Psychologist role within Her Majesty’s Prison
  • Training to be a Mental Health Social Worker
  • Position as an Applied Behavioural Analyst Practitioner at the Maudsley Hospital
  • Moved on to work in education with young people
  • Assistant Psychologist within the NHS
  • We also actively support with time off, financial contributions and supervision towards accreditation - EMDR Training Parts 1, 2 and 3.
